After choosing to bowl first, India struggled to capitalize on the favourable overhead conditions. The bowlers lacked consistency in their lines and lengths allowing the Australian openers to settle in. With minimal movement off the pitch, the visitors rarely forced the batters into making errors. As a result, Australia’s openers, particularly Usman Khawaja, looked assured and composed at the crease. McSweeney, despite facing some testing deliveries, held his ground well. Just as the Indian pacers were beginning to find their footing, rain arrived for the second time in the day and this time around, it was persistent which meant no further play was possible.
