Arshdeep Singh opened up on bowling to former Indian skipper MS Dhoni, saying that it is tough to form a plan against him. Arshdeep made his international debut in 2022, three years later after Dhoni played his last international match against New Zealand in the semi-final of the 2019 World Cup.
But it’s in the Indian Premier League (IPL) where Arshdeep has had chances to face Dhoni, who has been a stalwart for the Chennai Super Kings (CSK). But the left-arm pacer is yet to dismiss the CSK veteran in the IPL. The youngster said that he always plans to keep Dhoni off strike to restrict the batter.
“My plan is only to how to get him off strike. I also have plans for other batters. You can’t have a plan for him; it depends on his mood when to hit sixes and when not to,” Arshdeep said while speaking at the ‘Champions’ session of Agenda AajTak on Saturday, 14 December.
Arshdeep has taken giant strides in his career over the last two and a half years. He is only two wickets short of becoming the leading wicket-taker for India in Men’s T20Is, going past Yuzvendra Chahal.
Arshdeep will be useful in England: Suresh Raina
Former Indian batter Suresh Raina, who was also a part of the ‘Champions’ session, said that Arshdeep should have been a part of the national squad for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy against Australia.
“He should have gone to Australia. But there are big series coming up. India are going to England. He will be useful in getting those breakthroughs with the new ball and the old ball. He has it in him,” Raina said.
Arshdeep has made a reputation for himself to the extent that Punjab Kings (PBKS) shelled out a whopping Rs 18 crore for him in the recent auction in Saudi Arabia. In 153 T20 matches, Arshdeep has taken 203 wickets at an economy rate of 8.47.
