Gulf countries convene in Dubai to strengthen regional cricket

NEW DELHI: Representatives from Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and hosts UAE convened in Dubai on Saturday to deliberate strategies for advancing cricket across the Gulf.
The meeting emphasised the collective vision of promoting the sport through a unified approach, leveraging the success of the ILT20 Gulf Cricket Championship 2024.
Acknowledging the Emirates Cricket Board‘s meticulous organisation and the International League T20’s support, the participants praised the seamless execution of the tournament’s second edition.

The championship showcased thrilling cricket and underscored the region’s burgeoning potential in international cricket.
The ILT20 Gulf Cricket Championship, held at Dubai’s ICC Academy, delivered a series of gripping encounters as the teams vied for glory.
Hosts UAE dominated, securing crucial wins over Bahrain, Oman, and Kuwait, reflecting their acumen in both bowling and batting departments.

In a couple of tight affairs, Oman edged Bahrain by just two runs in a nail-biting finish, while Kuwait sealed a win against Oman with three balls to spare.
Saudi Arabia’s emphatic 8-wicket victory against Oman and Qatar’s 6-wicket triumph over Bahrain stood out as pivotal moments.
As the final between UAE and Kuwait unfolds at Dubai International Cricket Stadium, fans await a nail-biting conclusion to the tournament.
This collaborative effort reaffirms the Gulf nations’ commitment to fostering cricket, with future editions expected to further uplift the sport’s profile across the region.
