In 1993, currently fresh from Vinukonda Degree College in Guntur district of Andhra Pradesh, equipped with a commerce degree, Konga Srinivas Rao was determined to make something of his own in Hyderabad. But dreams, he soon realized, does not take shape overnight. His first break came to his uncle’s television assembling unit in the Koti area. He had taken a dip in an area that he did not know anything about, and yet, instead of a shock, he rolled his sleeves and learned the art of manufacturing black and white TV sets from above the ground.

In three years, he mastered every aspect of the process – assembly, circuit tube and full TV production. “Every day, we used to manufacture 200 TV sets that were then in high demand,” remembering Rao, now 52.

But just when things looked stable, a roads surfaced: the incredible supply of the 18-volt step-down transformer, a major component from Delhi. Production delayed, loss piled up and frustration increased. Given both his uncle, problem and rising expertise of Rao, a suggestion will change his life: “Why don’t you build a transformer?”

This idea was challenging – they had just got married, resources were limited and competition was fierce. But he decided to take a dip anyway. In 1998, he launched his own unit-RS enterprises from a small rented room in Hyderabad with his graduate-wife Ram Devi, which was shared by the couple.

What started as a minor setup is now producing 70,000 transformers annually. “I hardly met the needs of the manufacturers and ensured the highest quality. This made me know my work to the companies, ”Rao proudly says.

Looking at his rich business, he managed to buy a house in the city’s Boduppal region in 2011. “It is a two -storey building. Surface is my manufacturing unit and upper floor is my abode,” he says.

In 2018, under the Prime Minister’s Employment Creation Program (PMEGP), a central plan-and-post support from the Department of Posts to promote entrepreneurship and employment generation by providing financial assistance for a loan with a loan, and unexpected support from the Department of Posts, Rao carried forward his business which he had imagined.

“I applied for the loan and approved ₹ 9 lakh. Of that, 7 lakh purchases went into machinery and the rest was reserved for working capital. I also received a subsidy of ₹ 2 lakh, ”he said.

In fact, he was surprised that the Department of Posts had a role in achieving subsidy. He says he recently revealed that the department is carrying out third -party verification of units, presenting reports that enable banks and government to issue loans and subsidies, ensure a smooth process that spared them general bureaucracy obstacles.

He is not alone in benefiting from these early services. Hundreds of micro and small entrepreneurs have also got relief. Telangana Circle of the Department of Posts has played an important role in the facility of access to PMEGP benefits under the Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC), which promotes self-employment and trade development.

To ensure transparency and prevent misuse, the Central Government from August 20, 2024 submitted to the postal department with physical verification of nationwide PMEGP units.

Tales of success

From jute bags to brick kiln, from tailoring shops to digital service center, stories of small entrepreneurs are getting their feet under PMEGP Eco in Telangana.

“One day last year, the employees of the postal department landed for a surprise verification. He clicked on the pictures, talked to my workers and examined the entire construction process. By presenting her quick presenting of the report, I am convinced that I will finally get very important subsidies, ”she says.

In Utkur, a backward village of Luxetted Mandal in the Mancharti District, A. Suresh, who runs Lakshmi Ganpati bricks, was taken until the postal authorities showed it in his unit. “The process was smooth and they were helpful. I never thought that government employees could be helpful for small business owners, ”he believes.

Fifty kilometers away, b. Praveen Kumar, who runs a Miceva Center in Tandur city, also realized that the bureaucracy lifted the weight from his shoulders when the postal staff inspected their premises and submitted a verification report without chasing officers or banks. Now, I am on the verge of achieving my pmegp loan and subsidy, ”he says, his voice suffocated with relief.

For Rohini, 36, a tailor in Adilabad district, Kovid -19 epidemic almost crushed her dreams as she was starting. Unpublished, he applied for a pmegp loan and further extended. “The journey was not easy, but today, my business is concluded. I am now able to provide employment to four people. The verification process of the postal department was smooth and I hope to get subsidy soon, ”she says.

Nirmal Naresh, who runs a hair salon in Kaladugu of Jannaram Mandal in Nirmal district, also received a PMEGP loan. Thanks to the efficient verification of the postal department, their subsidy is now within access.

To ensure transparency, the enumerator also collects a self -declaration from the beneficiary as contract -2, confirming that the verification was properly conducted. Before being uploaded, this document has been certified through the OTP sent to the registered mobile number of the beneficiary.

To ensure the accuracy and integrity of the data, the quality-stable teams have been installed at both regional and circle levels. These teams carefully review the data and photographs uploaded by the enumerator before forwarding KVIC for final processing. Once the verification is confirmed, KVIC issues a formal certificate to the bank, which is able to issue subsidy, which is later deposited in the beneficiary’s loan account.

Inspector RVCram of Balampalli Post Office says that he is doing unit verification for PMEGP scheme at Adilabad Division. “The owners of the rural manufacturing unit are eligible for 20–30% loan subsidy, subject to verification by the Department of Posts,” they explain.

Their feelings are echoed by those whose businesses were verified. Rao praised the postal department for fully verification, documenting every aspect of his unit through pictures and videos. “His support and proficiency has been priceless. We are deeply grateful to both PMEGP and Postal Department to help the manufacture and maintain our enterprise, ”they say.

Narasimulu, Public Relations Inspector, notes, most banks in Kukukalli Post Office have been helpful in the entire PMEGP verification process, although some challenges were created due to bank merger and unavailability of old records.
