Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan turned 60, and his elder sister, Nikhat Khan Hegde, marked the occasion with a heartfelt letter reminiscing about their childhood and his journey to stardom. As Aamir introduced his new partner, Gauri Spratt, to the media during his birthday celebration, Nikhat also shared her thoughts on his newfound love.
“I am very happy for the both of them and wish them happiness always,” she told ETimes.
Nikhat then shared a touching note with ETimes, looking back at their years together, from their childhood days to Aamir’s rise in the film industry. She fondly recalled their playful sibling rivalry, his teenage stubbornness, and the overwhelming fame that came with his success.

Nikhat Khan Hegde’s letter to Aamir Khan

“Can’t believe it! Aamir will turn 60 tomorrow!! Still to digest the fact. Haha.
All of us are growing old, so obviously, he will grow too. But OMG, when one looks back at all the years gone by, there are so many wonderful memories. It’s been a great journey, from us growing up to all the way to the present.
I remember the days when, as kids, both Aamir and Faisal went to school in their uniforms, waking up early and walking to school. Until one day, Amma (our Dadi) heard of it and insisted that since there was a car at home, they should be dropped by car. My dad believed that since they themselves had to walk miles to attend school, his children should do the same.
Aamir was quite stubborn as a teenager. I remember we had just learned to drive, and when we found the car free, we both wanted to go out for a drive. We rushed to see who would get in first to drive. Aamir was smart—he got the keys while I got the driver’s seat. We sat for 20-30 minutes, refusing to budge. The driver patiently waited, but eventually, I gave up my seat since, without the keys, I couldn’t do anything. Aamir got to drive first. That is Aamir.
In the early days of his acting career, we were excited when fans’ calls started coming in. It was such a happy feeling, making us all proud of our brother. But as the calls increased, it became overwhelming—especially those in the middle of the night, waking up the whole household. In those days, with only a landline, it was quite annoying!
It’s been a wonderful journey, and I put my hand on my heart and say, ‘Bhai ho to aisa.’ So proud of you, Aamir!
May Aamir be blessed with the best always, as he deserves every bit of it.”

On the work front, Aamir Khan is set to return with Sitaare Zameen Par, a thematic sequel to Taare Zameen Par, slated for release in June. The film will see him in a unique role as an antagonist, with 10 special children as the protagonists.
