“Congratulations and thank you to every filmmaker, every artist, every crew member, and every single person who works at the studios. To every theatre and every employee who helps bring these stories to audiences—thank you. To everyone at Paramount Pictures and Skydance, thank you for your many years of partnership and unwavering support. And most of all, thank you to audiences everywhere—for whom we all serve and for whom we all love to entertain,” he wrote.

Tom Cruise to reunite with MI 8 filmmaker Christopher McQuarrie

Christopher McQuarrie, the director of Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning, has shared updates on upcoming collaborations with Tom Cruise, including the highly anticipated Top Gun 3.

As reported by Deadline, in a recent interview, McQuarrie revealed that the sequel to Top Gun: Maverick is “already in the bag,” with a story framework already in place.

McQuarrie credited co-writer Ehren Kruger for pitching the idea that sparked the sequel`s concept.

“It wasn’t hard,” McQuarrie said, adding, “I thought it would be, and that’s a good place to go from—when you walk into the room going, ‘Come on, what are we going to do?’”

McQuarrie emphasized that the challenge lies not in developing the story, but in executing it and capturing the emotional depth that makes the films resonate.

When asked if he would consider directing Top Gun 3, McQuarrie responded that he had given it “absolutely no thought,” according to Deadline. However, he mentioned studying Tony Scott’s directing style—the filmmaker behind the original Top Gun.

“Everything is a priority; everything will—in one way or another—happen,” he said.
