Shilpa Shinde is set to return to Bhabhi Ji Ghar Par Hai, 9 years after her dramatic exit. According to the latest viral report, Shilpa has been approached by the makers to replace Shubhangi Atre as Angoori Bhabhi. According to reports, negotiations between the actress and the producers are now underway, with a final decision expected soon.
Shilpa Shinde to return as Angoori?
As per reports in ETimes, a source shared, “Yes, there are talks for Shilpa to return as Angoori Bhabhi and everyone is hoping the deal materialises soon. The decision was made as everyone feels the show needs a revival. After running successfully for a decade, the channel wants to introduce new elements and characters to refresh Bhabi Ji Ghar Par Hai.”
It was further reported that the show is set to have a new season with a new set and the cast may have a small revamp, “A new set is being built, and viewers can expect major changes in the storyline. The makers plan to begin shooting for Bhabi Ji Ghar Par Hai 2.0 by mid-December.”
Shilpa Shinde rose to prominence as the character Angoori Bhabhi in the sitcom Bhabi Ji Ghar Par Hai. However, her abrupt resignation from the show in March 2016 sparked much outrage. Shinde resigned the show, citing “mental torture” by the producers, saying that she was pressured to sign an exclusivity clause that banned her from appearing on other shows and charging unprofessionalism. She also claimed that she was due money and that she faced discrimination in terms of staffing and support.
Shilpa Shinde reacts to not getting work
Shilpa had earlier spoken to Bombay Times on why she has been away from work, “People often ask me why I haven’t been working. It’s not that I don’t want to work, but I should get an offer that truly excites me. There’s a common belief that once you step away from the screen, you are finished. However, by the grace of God, that hasn’t happened to me. As an actor, I feel fortunate not to have an expiry date, and that’s because I’m content with what I’ve done and don’t panic. I want to be selective about my work, and for that, patience is key. Some people take up any project that comes their way, but as an artiste, main khud ko khatam kyun karoon by accepting everything offered to me.”
Later, the production business sent her a legal notice citing a violation of the contract. The show`s creators accused her of unprofessional behaviour.
Shilpa Shinde hasn`t been on many shows since leaving Bhabhi Ji Ghar Par Hai. She only appeared on Bigg Boss 11, where she won, and Khatron Ke Khiladi 14. Shilpa Shinde had a brief appearance in Maddam Sir in 2023.
