‘Who will vote for Congress now? Have you ever thought about it…’: An open letter to Rahul Gandhi after Bihar defeat. india news

By Anurag Mishra

Rahul ji, you caught a fish, tried to know about it Makhane (Fox nuts) Cultivated, made Jalebi (a sweet), ran, did push-ups, walked in a T-shirt in the cold, cooked and ate food with Lalu Prasad Yadav (at his residence in Patna). But it yielded no results.

Rahul Gandhi ji, have you ever wondered what is the reason behind your repeated failures? Forgive me for using the word “failed.” I had no choice. I didn’t like it when BJP workers suggested new career paths for you.

These things remain in politics. Your party also made many AI videos. I am writing this open letter today to ask you something. Have you ever wondered who will vote for you; Who is standing with you (I mean real voters)?

And yes, let us assume that caste becomes the truth in elections. One needs the veil of truth to win. Look at the restlessness inside Dinesh Sharma. He tried to boost the enthusiasm of the party by waving the flag alone outside the office.

The results of Bihar assembly elections are out. Then the weekend passed. Your party won only six out of 61 seats. The vote share stopped at 8.71%. I believe that Congress must have reviewed its performance. That is why I am writing this letter now. The question is not about BJP’s victory or its huge mandate. The question rests on the position of the Congress, which is the principal opposition and the oldest party. Its situation does not look good for any healthy democracy.

Congress workers do not feel the shock the way people like me feel. This is a shock for us. The country seems to be moving towards one party and one alliance.

Rahul ji, fear increases. The opposition may fade away. Even those who vote for BJP feel sad when they look at Congress. The people who left Congress also have the same sorrow. The question remains. Why did the situation reach here? Those who once shouted “Congress tempo high” gradually turned towards Lotus. You might not have thought about this change. Who is left with you now?

Who do you have left?

Rahul ji, you have won many elections. You know better than anyone that any party survives on the strength of its cadre. It is the hard work and sweat of the common workers that ultimately leads to victory. But today the question is, does that cadre base still exist for you?

Take Uttar Pradesh for example. There was a time when Brahmins stood firmly with you and Muslims and Adivasis (indigenous communities or Scheduled Tribes) supported you. Then the Samajwadi Party (SP) arose and pulled the Yadavs and eventually a large section of the Muslims along with it. Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) created its strong social base. BJP united the upper castes and later it reached out to tribal communities also. In this changing scenario, who is left standing with you now?

factionalism with ethnic flavor

Factionalism began to creep into the party and a slight caste-based flavor began to shape its decisions. People did not speak openly about this, but it was visible. Our grandfather’s generation grew up as committed Congress supporters because the party once took everyone along. That inclusive image has now transferred to the BJP.

In its early decades, Congress governments introduced schemes that truly changed lives. Poverty reduced, food shortages reduced and rural families were attracted to the Congress. Lower-middle-class families also expressed confidence in the party and the urban middle class supported it, as they saw no alternative at that time.

However, once new political alternatives emerged, the Congress did not make sufficient efforts to retain its traditional supporters. Internal factional fights increased. Mandal politics emerged. Social justice movements gained momentum. The Ram Mandir movement changed politics and deepened polarization. BJP spread its roots.

At that time Congress needed vigilance. Thirty years on from Uttar Pradesh now show a different story. Congress did not rebuild its base after one or the other defeat. One after another the leaders and workers left. He helped other parties to move forward. Your leaders want to live in their own glory.

BJP copied your playbook

Then BJP picked up AAP’s formula. The thinking of Rahul ji, Panna Pramukh of BJP is influenced by the old Congress organization. Congress once had a strong network at the block level and village level. The party allowed it to disintegrate.

You can also see leadership crisis within Congress. The last 20 years have made this abundantly clear. Senior leaders stepped away one after another and no serious plan to save the party ever emerged. The Congress failed to build new state-level leadership, while the BJP developed not only the first line of leadership, but also the second and even the third line.

In Congress-ruled states, senior leaders often clash with younger leaders, and many focus more on securing tickets for their family members rather than strengthening the party. Through all this, you did not step in to restore order or provide clear direction.

Himanta Biswa Sarma (now BJP leader and Chief Minister of Assam) is one of the clearest examples of what went wrong. Congress missed its time. The party failed to accommodate emerging leaders, while senior leaders stuck to their chairs and continued to bear the entire burden of the organisation. It may be uncomfortable to hear, but the party is not standing; It is slipping. The new generation could have taken charge, but you did not give them the space to move forward. Jyotiraditya Scindia left. Sachin Pilot is feeling neglected. During all this, you remained silent.

Now you have lost Bihar. BJP leaders count your 95 defeats and claim that Congress is moving towards a century of defeats. I ask you to stop and consider. Now who do you expect to vote for? Who will vote for you? Look at it closely and don’t rely on others for answers. Those advisors may have misled you for years.

Bihar tells the story

Take Bihar for example. The EBCs (Extremely Backward Classes) rallied behind the Janata Dal (United) on a large scale. Kurmi and Kushwaha stood firmly with Nitish Kumar. Brahmins, Thakurs and Bhumihars shifted towards BJP. Together, the BJP and JD(U) wooed women and young voters through a mix of welfare schemes, targeted outreach. The BJP strengthened its position with both its welfare delivery and Hindutva message.

Chirag Paswan consolidated Dalit and Mahadalit votes, while leaders like Upendra Kushwaha and Jitan Ram Manjhi remained safe within their respective communities. Finally, the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) gave a full chance to the voters Plate (A full political plate) and walked away with victory. And during all this, what were you doing?

Rahul ji, you often speak about EVMs and voting irregularities, but now it is time you consider something more fundamental: Who really stands with you now? I am talking about your vote bank. Muslim voters have dispersed. In Uttar Pradesh he moved towards SP. In Bihar he turned towards RJD. Others were divided between JD(U) and (Asaduddin) Owaisi’s party, the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM). He has realized that good days are not likely to come for the Congress any time soon. The upper castes have also drawn the same conclusion. They do not want to waste their vote on a party that they believe cannot win.

do it the bjp way

Adopt BJP’s method. People call the BJP an election machine, and after 11 years in public life you know exactly why. But you don’t take action. If the way doesn’t come to you on its own, you must make one. Bring new people forward. If necessary, separate the leaders from BJP. Give them roles, visibility and recognition. At least then some action will start.

This is how BJP takes it forward

See how BJP works. As the counting of votes in Bihar approached and NDA’s victory became clear, they immediately started celebrating. From the very next day they started preparing for the next elections. On the other hand, Congress remains silent for months. Eventually, some leaders reappeared on social media. Then some meetings took place. After that some scattered statements. There is no pace, no rhythm and no urgency.

You speak in English during your foreign trips and when you return home, your voice in Hindi sounds hesitant and weak. Fake news spreads quickly and your leaders rarely correct it. Believe me, Congress leaders may not feel the urgency of this moment, but people who care about democracy are feeling deeply troubled.

I hope you will take this seriously. You need to rethink family politics, rebuild your base, focus on positive political work, take Hindi seriously and actually offer something new. Everything else seems empty now.

I say this without anger. I say this with concern. Your vote bank has collapsed. Accept this reality. You have to rebuild it from scratch. And you can do this with the help of an honest team. Strengthen your cadre. Even a lone Congress worker standing silently at a BJP rally hopes for the revival of your party.
