Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bengaluru will kick off the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2026 on January 9 at the Dr DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced on Saturday, 29 November. Earlier, on 27 November, WPL chairman Jayesh George had revealed the tournament’s start and end dates, along with the venues, during his opening address at the WPL mega auction in New Delhi.
The first leg of the tournament will be held in Navi Mumbai from January 9 to 17, followed by the second leg in Baroda from January 19 to February 5, with the final also scheduled in Baroda. The league stage will feature 20 matches, culminating in the Eliminator on February 3 and the final two days later.

In the WPL 2026 auction, 277 players were available, including 194 Indian and 83 overseas players. Of these, only 67 were sold, with 23 being overseas players. Franchises spent a total of Rs 40.8 crore to secure talent. Mumbai Indians are the defending champions, having also won the title in 2023, while Royal Challengers Bengaluru claimed the trophy in 2024.
