India’s leading tennis-ball T10 cricket tournament, the Indian Street Premier League (ISPL) kicked off with a blockbuster Season 3 player auction. According to an ISPL release, Rs 10 crore was spent on 144 players as eight franchises went head-to-head in an intense day of bidding in Mumbai on Tuesday.
Vijay Pawle emerged as the biggest headline of the auction 32.50 lakh from defending champions Majhi Mumbai, which is the highest ever price in the league. The star all-rounder from West Zone returns to familiar territory, having led Mumbai to the title last season. Western Zone’s Ketan Mhatre has been retained by Chennai Singles through Right to Match (RTM) card. 26.40 lakh, making it the second highest pick of the day.
With two new teams joining the league, Ahmedabad Lions and Delhi Superheroes, Season 3 promises to be the most competitive edition yet. This tournament will be held from 9 January to 6 February 2026 at Lalbhai Contractor Stadium in Surat. This year’s auction showcased the growing influence of the ISPL, with 408 players from 101 cities auctioned. The event was attended by some of the biggest names in cricket and entertainment, including ISPL core committee members Sachin Tendulkar, Ashish Shelar, Minal Amol Kale, Suraj Samat and operations chairman Deepak Chauhan. Team co-owners in attendance included Akshay Kumar (Srinagar Brave), Saif Ali Khan and Aksha Kamboj (Tigers of Kolkata), Hrithik Roshan and Divya Dangi (Bengaluru Strikers), Neeti Agarwal (Majhi Mumbai), Zayed Noman (Falcon Risers Hyderabad), Rajdeep Gupta (Chennai Singams), and Ajay Devgan, Zahidmohamed Wijpura and Ijazhamed Khanusia (Ahmedabad Lions) were included. With Salman Khan and Arpita Khan Sharma (Delhi Superhero).
The day started on a grand note with the official unveiling of ‘Street Star’, a human innovation set to redefine fan engagement in ISPL Season 3.
There was vigorous bidding for the Under-19 category. Ankit Yadav emerged as the most expensive young player, bought by Kolkata Tigers. 6.50 lakh. Meanwhile, 16-year-old Rudra Patil made history as the youngest player of Season 3 to be picked up by Srinagar’s Veers at his base price. 3 lakh.
Speaking during the auction, ISPL Core Committee Member, Sachin Tendulkar said, “I started playing cricket because I was passionate. So, my advice to all the ISPL players is this: Stay the same. Whatever you were yesterday, can you better yourself today? This is a platform where you can go out, express yourself, and everyone is watching you and enjoying your talent. Climb the mountain so you can show the world.” So that you can see, not so that the world can see you.”
ISPL Core Committee Member Ashish Shelar said, “ISPL was formed to give promising talents a platform to shine, and it is heartening to see millions of young players embracing this opportunity. We have built this platform with a professional, future-focused approach, and its impact is already visible. I am confident that ISPL will continue to grow from strength to strength and unleash even more potential across the country.”

Core Committee Member and League Commissioner, ISPL, Suraj Samat said: “This edition of the auction was one of the most competitive we have ever seen. The franchises came up with clear strategies, and the use of googly power, RTM and retention added considerable depth to the proceedings. The teams are well balanced, and we are confident that fans will witness a high-quality and entertaining season in Surat.”
The league has expanded to eight teams with the addition of Salman Khan-owned Delhi Superheroes and Ajay Devgan-owned Ahmedabad Lions. They join Majhi Mumbai (Amitabh Bachchan), Tigers of Kolkata (Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor Khan), Srinagar Ke Veer (Akshay Kumar), Chennai Singams (Suriya), Bengaluru Strikers (Hrithik Roshan) and Falcon Risers Hyderabad (Ram Charan).
The ISPL has also announced that the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of Season 3 will receive a Porsche 911, making it one of the most valuable individual awards in the Indian game.
