Christmas releases always come with excitement, and occasionally a little censorship drama. The upcoming romcom Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri, starring Kartik Aaryan and Ananya Panday, gears up for its Christmas Day theatrical release after facing the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC)’s scissors. According to reports, the film received a U/A 16+ certificate after “three cuts”, which include removing a “sexually suggestive” scene, muting and deleting “obscene dialogue” from subtitles, and trimming portions of the second half to eliminate abbreviated obscene expressions. After all the tweaking, the final runtime now stands at 145 minutes and 41 seconds. Certified drama, coming soon!

Finding inspiration at home

A still from ‘Ikkis’

Agastya Nanda admits he doesn’t have to look too far for cinematic inspiration, because home offers plenty of it. Preparing to play Second Lieutenant Arun Khetarpal in Ikkis, directed by Sriram Raghavan, the actor says he immersed himself in iconic war and patriotic films — including his grandfather Amitabh Bachchan’s Major Saab (1998).

“We took a lot of inspiration and have seen a lot of lovely films like uncle Abhishek Bachchan’s Refugee (2000), Major Saab, and Border (1997), and these were classic Indian films. I would watch them for my own study,” he shares at a recent media interaction. Clearly, filmi blood runs deep in this family.

mid-day recently reported that a sequel to Aamir Khan’s blockbuster 3 Idiots (2009) is in development (The idiots are calling, December 9). Now, rumours suggest that the film is taking shape under the tentative title 4 Idiots, with the makers planning to introduce a brand-new central character alongside the OG trio. Aamir, R Madhavan, and Sharman Joshi are expected to reprise their roles as the story continues from where the original film left off. Insiders claim that the script is currently being polished, with the team eyeing a “major star” to join the franchise.
