Veteran filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma became the talk of the town over the weekend when she shared the review of Ranveer Singh and Aditya Dhar’s Dhurandhar. Talking about the film he shared that the film was a quantum leap and how the industry will have to wake up now. His review went viral with even Paresh Rawal commenting on it stating that critics should learn how to review films from RGV. Aditya Dhar responded by stating that he is a fan of him and it was RGV’s films that taught him how to be fearless in filmmaking. And soon after a twitter handle Cine Corn pointed out that creators behind landmark films such as Baahubali: The Beginning, Pokiri, Animal, and Dhurandhar have all openly acknowledged Ram Gopal Varma and are a fan of his work. However, instead of embracing the praise, Varma chose introspection.Responding to the tweet, the filmmaker wrote: “This reminds me of a female model who became immensely popular in a soap commercial .. The owner of the brand asked his board ‘Ok, we made the model popular, but what about the soap?’. Likewise it sounds nice that i INSPIRED all these great directors to become GREAT, but when will me, the INSPIRER become GREAT? 😫😫😫😢” he added. Ram Gopal Varma is widely credited with changing the grammar of Indian cinema in the late 1990s and early 2000s with his films like Shiva, Sarkar, Sarkar Raj, Rangeela, Satya, Company, Bhoot, Kaun? Jungle and many more. He is all set to return to Hindi cinema with Manoj Bajpayee, Genelia D’souza and Ramya Krishnan starrer Police Station Mein Bhoot, the film is slated to release in 2026. RGV and Manoj are reuniting for almost a decade, the last time they came together was for Sarkar 3 which had Amitabh Bachchan in the lead.
