The Raja Saab crosses USD 140,000 mark in North America

Prabhas’s ‘The Raja Saab’ crosses USD 140,000 for its premiere shows in North America
In a daring new direction, Prabhas stars in ‘The Raja Saab’, blending romantic elements with the thrills of horror-comedy, marking a significant departure from his action film legacy. However, the initial sales in North America aren’t quite living up to expectations, especially with major competition from Vijay’s ‘Jana Nayagan’ slated for Pongal release.

Having worked in mostly larger than life films post the life altering success of Baahubali 2- The Conclusion, Prabhas is all set to be on the big screen with a genre that he’s not attempted in the last 10 years; a romantic horror comedy, With 19 days still to go for premieres, the film has recorded USD 140.5K in total North America premiere advance sales, signalling a not so promising start for the film when compared to advance booking of his past films like Kalki 2898 AD or Salaar: Part 1 Ceasefire. In the United States , The Raja Saab has clocked in over USD 136K from nearly 320 locations and more than 950 shows. Directed by Maruthi, The Raja Saab marks Prabhas’ foray into a romantic horror-comedy, a sharp departure from the action-heavy, large-scale spectacles that have defined his post-Baahubali career. Adding to the intrigue is the fact that Prabhas will be seen in a dual role, a factor that will heighten the curiosity of his fans once the trailer of the film is released. The film boasts a diverse and high-profile ensemble cast, including Nidhhi Agerwal, Malavika Mohanan who makes her Telugu film debut with this project , Riddhi Kumar, Sanjay Dutt, and Boman Irani. However, The Raja Saab faces stiff competition at the box office, particularly in overseas markets. The film is slated to release on January 9 on the occasion of Pongal, directly clashing with Jana Nayagan, the final film of Vijay. Vijay’s swan song has already generated strong buzz, with Jana Nayagan collecting USD 41,000 from its US premiere shows in just two days, underscoring the emotional pull and fan-driven demand surrounding his farewell to cinema. With nearly three weeks still left for premieres, The Raja Saab has enough runway to significantly scale its advance bookings. As the Pongal box office battle heats up, the North American pre-sales trend suggests that Prabhas’ experiment will need to ramp up its promotions else Vijay’s film will take a better start in the circuit. Usually the circuit is dominated by Telugu and Hindi films but with Vijay’s film on the road- this time around things could change,
