Dave Chappelle on Charlie Kirk’s comparison to Martin Luther King Jr.

Although Dave Chappelle said he was not trivializing Charlie Kirk’s assassination, the comedian argued that it was unreasonable to compare him to Martin Luther King Jr. “I’m not making light of Charlie Kirk dying, but I’m not sure what it means, and I’m not sure I believe what they say it means,” Chappelle said.

“I’ll tell you what I don’t believe, and the whites were quick to say this. They said, ‘Charlie Kirk is this generation’s Martin Luther King [Jr.].’ No, he’s not! Yeah, that’s a reach,” he added, per the outlet.

Chappelle said Kirk and Martin Luther King Jr. were “murdered in a terrible fashion”. “They both got shot in the neck. But that’s about where those similarities ended,” he argued.

During a guest appearance on the livestream for the Jake Paul vs. Anthony Joshua fight, Dave Chappelle announced that his Netflix stand-up special would air after the boxing match.

“I just want you to know that the show will be streaming on Netflix tonight after the fight. My new special drops, and I hope you love it,” Chappelle had said, per The Lagos Review.

Dave Chappelle calls Charlie Kirk an “internet personality”

Dave Chappelle said the designation “internet personality” suited Charlie Kirk the best. In his opinion, he could not “function like Dr King”.

“Could you imagine if Dr King were behaving like Charlie Kirk? Smash that like button and subscribe! Follow me for more content like this!” he said.

Charlie Kirk was assassinated on September 11 at Utah Valley University in Orem, Utah, during a campus debate organized by Turning Point USA. Charlie Kirk is survived by his widow, Erika Kirk, and their two children.
