A major fire broke out in the early hours of the morning at Sorrento building in Andheri West, Mumbai, gutting the 12th, 13th and 14th floors and triggering panic among residents. Fire tenders rushed to the spot soon after the blaze was reported, and firefighting operations continued for several hours as thick smoke engulfed the upper floors of the high-rise.

The fire caused extensive damage to multiple residential units, particularly on the 14th floor, which also houses the premises of filmmaker Sandeep Singh. Singh is known for producing several notable films, including Mary Kom, Sarbjit, Aligarh, Jhund, Savarkar, Safed and Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. Fortunately, the filmmaker was not at home at the time of the incident.

Sandeep Singh had only recently been discharged from Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital, where he was undergoing treatment for a hernia. Given his medical condition and the sudden emergency, immediate arrangements were made to ensure his safety and comfort. Actress Ankita Lokhande and her husband Vicky Jain, who are close to Singh, promptly stepped in to help.

According to reports, Ankita and Vicky personally took Sandeep Singh to their residence soon after the fire incident. The couple ensured that he was safe, settled, and away from the chaos at the site, especially considering his recent surgery and recovery phase. Their gesture has been appreciated by those close to the filmmaker, highlighting the strong personal bonds within the industry during times of crisis.

Emergency services confirmed to Times of India, that evacuation measures were swiftly carried out to prevent any casualties. While no serious injuries have been reported so far, the extent of property damage is being assessed. The exact cause of the fire is yet to be officially determined, and authorities are expected to conduct a detailed investigation.

Residents of Sorrento building expressed shock over the incident, with many describing the terrifying moments as flames and smoke spread rapidly across the upper floors.
