NEW DELHI: For the first time in their Test history, which goes back to 1933, India on Sunday were whitewashed 0-3 in a series of three or more games by New Zealand as the visitors triumphed by 25 runs in the third and final Test in Mumbai.
The BlackCaps, who landed here after being thrashed 0-2 by a Sri Lankan team, stunned the hosts, producing exceptional all-round performances across the three Tests to claim an unprecedented series win.
Chasing a tricky 147 on a deteriorating Wankhede track on the third day, India suffered yet another batting collapse, folding for 121 in the chase to hand the Kiwis a memorable win.
Playing for their pride after having conceded a 2-0 lead, India surrendered in the chase with only three batters going on to hit the double-digit mark in the chase.
Soon after the defeat, the Indian team drew flak from all quarters for their irresponsible showing in the series.

Amid yet another horror show from the batters, Rishabh Pant was the lone bright spot in the chase as he threatened to take the game away with his superb 64-run knock.
However, a close call went against him in the second session and after that it was just a matter of time for the Kiwi win.
Left-arm spinner Ajaz Patel picked up six wickets while part-timer Glenn Phillips too bagged three wickets as India were bundled out for 121 inside 30 overs.
