Brave and tall Harshit Rana can be a great asset in Australian conditions, said former India bowling coach Bharat Arun. Speaking to RevSportz ahead of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, Bharat Arun highlighted that Harshit Rana’s ability to extract bounce in the Australian pitches might prove to be useful for India.
Rana is in the reckoning for a debut in the tour of Australia. Due to the absence of Mohammed Shami and given that the Test series is 5 matches long, India are expected to rotate their bowlers. Rana might be given a chance as the 4th pacer in the opening Test match, due to bouncy conditions in Perth.
So what is Harshit Rana’s standout attribute? Bharat Arun felt that it was his confidence.
“His confidence. He is very sure of his ability and isn’t scared of the big stage. He is a tall bowler and he will be able to generate bounce. What goes in his favour is also his ability to get movement. Someone who gets bounce and movement is rare, and in Australian conditions, he can be a very useful bowler for India. Having seen him very closely, his confidence is something that has stood out for me,” Bharat Arun told RevSportz.
