Aaryavir Sehwag, son of Indian cricket icon Virender Sehwag, delivered a stellar performance on Thursday, smashing an unbeaten 200 in Delhi U-19’s Cooch Behar Trophy match against Meghalaya. Opening the innings with Arnav Bugga, Aaryavir displayed exceptional skill and maturity. His unbeaten knock of 200 came off 229 deliveries, featuring 34 boundaries and two towering sixes. Bugga complemented him perfectly at the other end, contributing a quickfire 114 off just 108 balls.
Delhi dominated the match after Meghalaya posted 260 in their first innings. By the end of the second day, Delhi had amassed 468 for 2 in 81 overs, with Aaryavir firmly holding the fort. Dhanya Nakra, unbeaten on 98, provided solid support as the team tightened their grip on the game. In October, Aaryavir marked his debut in the Vinoo Mankad Trophy with an impressive 49-run knock against Manipur. His performance played a crucial role in Delhi’s six-wicket victory in the match.
Earlier in 2023, Sehwag emphasised how he has never been adamant about his children having no compulsion to follow his footsteps to be a cricketer, rather he wants them to pick a profession they want.
“I don’t want to see another Virender Sehwag in them. They can become a Virat Kohli or a Hardik Pandya or MS Dhoni. But they don’t have to [become] cricketers. They are free to choose their careers and we will help them achieve as far as possible. But the bottom line is to become good human beings. That’s non-negotiable,” he said.

The Cooch Behar Trophy, one of India’s most prestigious multi-day tournaments for the U-19 category, continues to serve as a launchpad for budding cricketers. Aaryavir’s composed yet aggressive innings underscores his promise and raises expectations for a bright future in Indian cricket.
