AR Rahman and Saira Banu are not happy with their divorce, reveals lawyer: 'It was a long marriage'

AR Rahman and Saira Banu have announced their separation after 29 years of marriage. The duo had tied the knot in an arranged marriage in 1995. They have three children together – Ameen, Khatija and Raheema. Saira’s lawyer has recently spoken about their divorce in an interview, revealing that while they are doing ok, both of them are not happy with the separation.
Lawyer Vandana Shah told PTI, “It’s a long marriage and in long marriages and in divorce, no one is happy calling it quits. I can just say that they’re doing okay but no one is happy.” She further spoke about their divorce and said that they’re trying to keep it all amicable as that’s what they want.
She added, “We are looking at things amicably. We are not looking at any acrimony. They’re both dignified individuals. We propose to keep that. For 29 years, they have led a very dignified life and they’re not changing that just because things may not work out as a fairytale ending as everyone may expect or as they may have expected. No one goes into a marriage expecting a divorce”
Rahman had shared his feelings on divorce as he expressed on X, “We had hoped to reach the grand thirty, but all things, it seems, carry an unseen end. Even the throne of God might tremble at the weight of broken hearts. Yet, in this shattering, we seek meaning, though the pieces may not find their place again. To our friends, thank you for your kindness and for respecting our privacy as we walk through this fragile chapter.”💐
