A tragic incident has come to light from Bidadi in Karnataka’s South Bengaluru district, where a 30-year-old man allegedly committed suicide after recording a selfie video accusing his wife of harassment. The deceased has been identified as Revanth Kumar, a resident of Annadoddi village in Harohalli taluk.

According to the police, Rewant Kumar committed suicide by standing in front of a moving train in the early hours of Monday. The incident came to light when local people saw the body near the railway track. The video he had recorded before his death has now gone viral in the area, prompting the police to launch a detailed investigation.

dying video message

In the selfie video recorded shortly before his death, Revanth can be heard saying that his wife Mallika had harassed him mentally and now he could not tolerate this trouble. In the clip he says, “I am going to die. The reason for my death is my wife. She is giving me a lot of trouble. I can’t live life; I can’t survive.”

Investigators believe the recording was made shortly before he left his residence. The video has been handed over to the police as evidence. Revanth’s family alleges that his wife often quarreled with him and there was tension in their marriage for several months.

The marriage took place only five months ago

Police said that Rewant Kumar used to work in a private factory in Bidadi industrial area. He married Mallika about five months ago. What initially appeared to be a happy union reportedly soon turned tense, with the couple having frequent arguments.

According to neighbors and relatives, Revanth was quite upset for the last few weeks. On Monday morning he left the house without telling anyone. Hours later, railway staff informed the Bengaluru Railway Police about a body found near the tracks, which was later identified as Revanth.

Bengaluru Railway Police officials have registered a case and started investigating the circumstances surrounding the death. They are verifying the contents of the selfie video and the statements of both the families. The body has been sent for post-mortem.

Family in shock, investigation continues

Revanth’s family has expressed deep shock and anger over the death. He has demanded a thorough investigation into the allegations made in his last video message. Police are investigating whether there were any signs of ongoing domestic violence, psychological distress or external pressure that could have led to the tragedy.

Preliminary inquiry reveals that Revanth might have been under a lot of mental stress due to disputes at home. Police have said that they will record the statements of his wife and other family members to corroborate the claims.

Separate incident in Udupi district

In another unrelated case, a 48-year-old man named Sudeep Bhandari, son of late former Karkala MLA Gopal Bhandari, also committed suicide on the night of Monday, October 13. The incident occurred near Barkur near Brahmavar in Udupi district.

According to Brahmawar police, it is believed that Sudeep has placed his head on the railway track. He was a resident of Hebri taluk and owned a small liquor shop in the area. The death of Sudeep, known among the locals as a calm and simple man, has shocked the community.

Police suspect that financial difficulties may have been a reason behind his decision. However, the exact cause is still being investigated. His family members are cooperating with the police and a case has been registered at Brahmavar police station.

mental health concerns

Both the incidents have once again raised questions over the increasing cases of suicide related to personal and financial stress in the state. Mental health experts keep urging people to seek timely help to deal with emotional or domestic problems.

If you or someone you know is struggling with suicidal thoughts, contact a local helpline or reach out to mental health professionals. Support and timely intervention can prevent recurrence of such tragedies.
