Akash Deep unsure of his feature in India`s playing XI for Lord`s encounter

Team India pacer Akash Deep, who came in as Jasprit Bumrah`s replacement in the second Test match, said that he is unaware of his inclusion in the side`s playing XI for the third Test match.

Coming in as a replacement, Akash showcased his skills by claiming four wickets for 88 runs in 20 overs.

After his four-wicket haul, when asked if he would play for India in the third Test match, he said, “We have only two days for this Test match, and this match is very important for us to win. So, I am not thinking about the third match at all. I believe that I have to put my energy in these two days. After that, I will consider it. The team will decide whether I will play or not. No, not at all. I don`t know if I`ll play. The team makes this decision. We get to know one day before the game”.

The third match between India and England is scheduled to be played at Lord`s Cricket Ground from July 10.

During the second Test, when Akash Deep was making it difficult for the English batsmen to score runs, fellow pacer Mohammed Siraj shone brightly by taking six wickets in 19.3 overs.

Speaking about the discussions both pacers were having during the match, the 28-year-old pacer said that they were planning to keep the pressure and bowl in partnerships.

“In the ground, we were talking to each other when I was bowling from here, what was going on, what was not going on, when Siraj was bowling from there, what was going on, what was not going on and we were talking to each other that we have to keep the pressure and bowl in partnership,” he said.

Further, Akash said that when India found success in restricting the England batsmen from scoring runs, it made the job easier for him to bowl freely.

“Whether we get wickets or not, we have to bowl in areas and make runs from there. We will not give such runs. So, this was our plan. So, it was easy for me that the run was not going from both sides and I was able to bowl openly,” he concluded.
