AR Ameen, son of legendary music composer AR Rahman, has broken his silence on the recent rumours circulating about his parents’ divorce and its link with Mohini Dey‘s separation from her husband.

He wrote in his statement: “My father is a legend not only for the sensational contributions but also for the values, respect, and love he has earned over the years. It hurts to see false and baseless rumors being spread. Let us honour and preserve his dignity and the incredible impact he has made in all of our lives.
The controversy started when Mohini Dey, an acclaimed bassist, announced her separation from her husband, Mark Hartsuch, through a joint Instagram post. Online speculations began to associate Rahman with Dey, giving rise to unwarranted gossip.
Rahman hasn’t commented on the issue, but attorney Vandana Shah recently said in a podcast about celebrity divorce in Bollywood.
In the podcast, she cleared the air that it is not infidelity but boredom which tops the list in celebrity marriages.
She explained, “In Bollywood, it’s not infidelity but boredom that often leads to separation. Celebrities move from one relationship to another because of the monotony in their lives. Their expectations, more so about their sex life, are higher than those of non-Bollywood marriages.”
The rumours have invoked criticisms from people connected to Rahman, including his fans and family, who are rushing to his defense with messages upholding his integrity. Thus far, no public comment has been released by AR Rahman or his wife on the controversy.
