Ruben Amorim is under no illusion how much of an effect the loss of skipper Bruno Fernandes will have on his Manchester United team, but expressed confidence in the ability of the team’s youngsters to step up when they take on Newcastle in an English Premier League (EPL) clash on Friday.
Fernandes is facing a lengthy spell on the sidelines after he picked up a hamstring injury during the 1-2 loss to Aston Villa. The Portuguese midfielder has been the Red Devils’s best player once again this season, picking up five goals and seven assists.

‘It is impossible to replace Bruno. We need maybe [to] try to see different ways of playing. I told the team that a lot of players will have to step up. [But] I’m confident that we can win any game. Of course, it’s going to be more difficult, but I trust in my players,” said Amorim.
Fernandes has an exemplary fitness record since he arrived on English shores from Portugal’s Sporting CP in 2020. He’s only missed three games across all competitions since then.
United are currently in seventh place in the EPL table with 26 points.
