Officials have issued flood warnings for some parts of Andhra Pradesh, as communities are threatened by heavy rains and rising river levels. The Visakhapatnam Cyclone Warning Center in the coordination of the State Disaster Management Department is the forecast of light for light rain in the separate pockets of these areas in the coming days.

The warning comes when meteorologists track a developing low pressure system in the middle bay of northern and Bengal. This system is expected to be formed by Wednesday, can intensify rainfall and affect the pattern of river flow across the state.

Flood levels in Krishna and Godavari rivers are increasing

The flow of water in Krishna and Godavari rivers is already at important levels. Officials are closely monitoring the situation, as thousands of inhabitants living in flood-prone areas can be affected by moving forward.

According to current reports:

Krishna River: The water level in the Prakasam barrage is expected to reach 7 lakhs.

Godavari River: The water level rises up to about 11 lakh cusecs in Dhavaleshwaram.

On specific sites, till Sunday evening:

Sunkesula project: There is a flow of 83,350 cusecs, and there is a outflow of 81,280 cusecs.

Srisailam dam: 5.93 lakh cusec inflow, 5.90 lakh cusec outfits.

Nagarjuna Sagar: 5.88 lakh cusec inflow and outflow.

Pulichintala: 6.30 lakh cusec inflow, 6.09 lakh cusec outfits.

Prasam Barrage: Important flow continues.

For the Godavari River, the flood level is 43.4 feet in Bhadrachalam and 18.46 meters in Kunavarm.

In Polavaram, the flow is recorded at a distance of 12.01 meters, with a flow of 10.32 lakh cusecs with Dhavaleshwaram cotton barrage. Officials hope that these levels will be about 11 lakh cusecs.

Precautionary measures and relief operations

The state has deputed several teams to respond to the situation. Two teams of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) have been posted in Krishna, Baptala, Konsma, Alliuri Setharram Raju and Kurnool districts. These units are on standby for immediate relief and rescue operations.

Authorities have urged residents in the low -lying areas with Krishna and Godavari rivers to be cautious and take necessary precautions till the flood waters recur. This involves avoiding travel through streams, canals and other waterfall areas.

Authorities have also banned bathing at the river ghat on the banks of the Krishna River near the Prakasam barrage – especially during festivals such as Dussehra and Navratri – due to strong currents and security risks. Devotees are advised to limit themselves to water baths under safe circumstances.

Why does this flood risk matter

Krishna and Godavari rivers are among the largest and most important waterways of Andhra Pradesh. Their basins support agriculture, drinking water supply, hydroelectric projects and fishing industries for millions of residents. But seasonal monsoon rains, combined with upstream dam release, can quickly cause dangerous flood growth.

The recent weather pattern has increased the risk this year. A combination of up-to-high rainfall in catchment areas and a possible low pressure system in the Bay of Bengal has raised an alarm between meteorologists and disaster managers.

This flood warning is no different – it reflects a broader tendency in the region. In the Bay of Bengal, extreme weather events including heavy rains and cyclonic activity have occurred more often in recent years, which change the climate patterns. For states like Andhra Pradesh, these conditions face increasing challenges for disaster preparations and reactions.

How is the economy of flood affected

Flood warnings of this scale are far -reaching consequences. Large -scale flood can damage crops, disrupt transportation and threaten power supply systems. For farmers in Krishna and Godavari valleys, timely warnings are important – flood waters can wipe paddy fields, sugarcane gardens and other crops, which affect livelihood for months.

Flood control measures, such as dam release, protecting communities and protecting upstream infrastructure are a balance task. These decisions have economic results, from agriculture loss to the cost of emergency response operations.

Additionally, flood often disrupts daily life, forcing temporary with residents and prevents commerce in affected districts. Relief operation requires significant manpower and resources, enhancing state disaster response capacity.

What will happen next?

Meteorologists and disaster management officials continue to monitor rain trends and river flows. The forecast for the coming days will determine whether the condition deteriorates or becomes stable.

Residents of weak areas are advised:

  • Stay updated with official warnings and advice.
  • Avoid traveling through crossing flood areas or rivers.
  • Prepare the withdrawn kit with necessary.
  • Follow the instructions of local authorities for safety.

The monsoon season continues, underlining the importance of strong disaster preparations in Uttarandra and Nandyal. For many people living with Krishna and Godavari rivers, the coming days will test community flexibility and initial warning systems.
