Arshdeep Singh reflects on his three-wicket haul against Australia

In the third T20I match against Australia, Team India secured a dominating win by five wickets at the Ninja Stadium in Tasmania.

During the match, India`s star pacer Arshdeep Singh claimed three wickets by conceding 35 runs in his spell of four overs. Following his three-wicket haul, the pacer was named the “Player of the Match”.

Reflecting on his performance, the pacer said that trusting his skills was his success mantra.

“I`ve just been working on my process, trusting my skills, and executing the plans I`ve practised,” said Arshdeep.

He also credited lead pacer Jasprit Bumrah by saying that batsmen often take chances against the bowler who is bowling alongside Bumrah, which in turn provided Arshdeep with wicket-taking opportunities.

“It feels great to contribute when I get the chance. When someone like Bumrah is bowling from the other end, batters often take more risks against me, and that gives me wicket-taking opportunities,” said the 26-year-old pacer.

“I just try to enjoy my bowling and keep things simple. No matter the situation, power play or death, I just focus on execution and stick to what I`ve practised,” he added.

While Bumrah failed to claim any wickets in the third match, he bowled well enough to earn praise from his skipper Suryakumar Yadav, who labelled the pacer and Arshdeep`s combo as lethal.

“It was really important to win the toss. Good to break the streak and be on the winning side. Those guys who came in today were practising really hard. This was a really good combination. Washy (Washington Sundar) is a flexible batter, and both Bumrah and Arshdeep are a lethal combination,” said Suryakumar.

“Shubman and Abhishek are fire and ice; same for Bumrah and Arshdeep. Bumrah did his job brilliantly and Arshdeep was very clear with his plans,” he added.

Varun Chakaravarthy and Shivam Dube also scalped two and one wickets, respectively.

The victory helped the “Men in Blue” level the five-match T20I series at 1-1 against the Aussies. The fourth T20I match between India and Australia is scheduled to be played at the Heritage Bank Stadium in Queensland on November 6.
