USA’s Venus Williams, 45, made history as the oldest woman to ever play the Australian Open on Sunday, but she fell at the first hurdle after an epic battle against Serbia’s Olga Danilovic, 24.
The seven-time Grand Slam winner showed she still has what it takes by pushing Danilovic all the way before losing 6-7 (5-7), 6-3, 6-4. “I’m really proud of my effort because I’m playing better with each match,” Williams said.
