A software professional from Bengaluru, who was already battling long-term health concerns, was spotted in an unfamiliar setup on the roadside while returning from a hospital visit in the city. Curious about the quiet tent and the claims displayed outside, he decided to go inside and ask a few questions. Over the next several weeks there was a series of decisions and conversations that slowly pulled her deeper into a situation she had never imagined.

A personal health issue turns into a trap

Software professional Tejas was undergoing treatment for a sensitive sexual health problem at a multi-specialty hospital in Kengeri, Bengaluru. He was hoping that the medical course would eventually help him recover.

But seeing a roadside tent promising Ayurvedic solutions led to a moment of temptation. For someone looking for privacy and quick relief, the setup appeared harmless and discreet. Without thinking much he went inside.

Guruji with roadside tent and big claims

There was a person sitting inside the tent who introduced himself as Vinay Guruji. A board outside listed several claims about curing sexual problems through Ayurvedic methods, which allegedly required confidentiality and personal attention.

The technical expert explained his problem. Guruji confidently said that he could solve everything with rare ingredients and traditional formulations available elsewhere. This reassurance given in a quiet corner of the road was enough to make the victim return again.

Guruji told the technician that the main medicine required a rare substance called Devraj Booti. The price quoted for just one gram was around Rs 1.5 lakh. Concerned and reassured by the promise of complete treatment, Tejas agreed. He paid Rs 1.6 lakh in cash for one gram of the substance.

The conditions imposed were unusual. No online payment. Don’t bring anyone along. Every purchase had to be made alone. These demands created a controlling environment where the victim was forced to continue without consulting anyone else.

Lakhs spent in small installments

After the first transaction, it becomes easier for the fraudster to maintain the pattern. Guruji claimed that treatment required several rounds of medicine. The technical expert made repeated trips and spent about Rs 17 lakh in small installments.

Believing that he needed to complete the entire course, he went as far as taking a bank loan of Rs 20 lakh. Another so-called product called Bhavan Booti Oil was added to the list, further increasing the expense. Each trip deepened their financial commitment and made it emotionally difficult to walk away.

Despite following the instructions and taking medicines for months, Tejas did not see any improvement in his condition. When he questioned Guruji the tone changed dramatically. Instead of addressing the concerns, the self-styled doctor allegedly threatened her.

He warned that if the treatment is stopped midway, the problem will worsen. This additional fear drove the technician into silence and confusion for some time, preventing him from seeking help elsewhere.

Kidney damage due to fake medicines

As time went on, Tejas began experiencing health problems unrelated to his original concern. Feeling unusually weak, he finally went to the hospital for a detailed examination. Blood test revealed kidney failure.

Doctors indicated that the substances he had consumed in the name of Ayurvedic treatment were probably responsible for the condition. The extent of the financial loss and physical damage became clear at this stage itself.

Realizing that he was cheated, Tejas lodged a complaint at Gyanbharti police station. A case has been registered against Vinay Guruji and Vijayalakshmi Ayurvedic, an organization associated with the tent.

Police are now investigating the money transactions, drug claims and whether other people have fallen victim to the same setup. This incident joins a growing list of frauds targeting individuals with personal medical issues.

a big warning

This case highlights how scams are no longer limited to online messages or prank calls. Roadside tents, miracle cure boards and self-proclaimed healers continue to exploit sensitive health concerns. Many victims remain silent due to embarrassment, thereby avoiding such operations.

For any personal health problem, the safest option is to consult recognized medical professionals. Demands for cash only, conditions of secrecy and pressure to avoid family involvement are clear signs that something is wrong. In this case the cost was not just Rs 48 lakh. It was the health of the victim.
