`Bhagam Bhag 2 is on track`: Raaj Shaandilyaa clarifies amid legal feud

Akshay Kumar, Manoj Bajpayee and Paresh Rawal were all set to start filming for Bhagam Bhag 2 this month. The shoot of Bhagam Bhag 2 has hit an unexpected roadblock after legal tensions surfaced between filmmaker Raaj Shaandilyaa and producer Ektaa Kapoor. Amid reports that a legal notice stalled the film’s schedule over an alleged breach of contract, Raaj has now issued a strong statement addressing the controversy.

About Ektaa Kapoor and Raaj Shaandilyaa feud

A source informed Bollywood Hungama, “Ektaa Kapoor has filed a legal case against Raaj Shaandilyaa for breach of contract. Raaj had signed a three-film deal with Ektaa and has now gone ahead to do not one but two films outside her banner. This has irked Ektaa, as Raaj didn’t take an NOC from her, nor did he refund the advance taken to direct the third project under her banner.”

A legal notice was sent to Raaj, as well as producers Ashwin Varde and Cape of Good Films, to stall the shoot. “Seeing the complexities in the project, the producers decided to cancel the schedule until the legal issues are resolved. At the moment, all the stakeholders are trying to resolve the issues.”

Raaj Shaandilyaa issues statement

Reacting to the feud, Raaj’s team issued a statement clarifying that he has terminated his association with Balaji Telefilms. He also assured that Bhagam Bhag 2 is very much on track. The statement read, “I, Raaj Shaandilyaa, had, in accordance with my contractual rights, issued a notice terminating my arrangement with Balaji Telefilms.”

He continued, “It has now been over two weeks since the termination notice was issued. If Balaji Telefilms believed it had any sustainable legal basis to challenge the termination, it was open to them to approach the appropriate civil court. No such proceedings have been initiated. These accusations are wholly unfounded and appear to be nothing more than an attempt to intimidate and browbeat after having realised that there is no viable case to challenge the termination.”

The statement concluded, “I remain fully confident of my legal position and will address any such allegations through the appropriate legal process. It may also be clarified that the film Bhagam Bhag 2 is very much on track and the project will proceed as scheduled. Members of the film and creative industry may take note of the manner in which such pressure tactics are being employed and draw their own conclusions when deciding future professional associations.”
