The Big Bash League (BBL) 2024-25 is all set to get underway on Sunday, December 15. Perth Scorchers and Melbourne Stars will lock horns in the opening game of the tournament at the Optus Stadium in Perth. Defending champions Brisbane Heat are scheduled to begin their campaign on Wednesday, December 18 at the iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground.
40 matches will take place in the league stage before matches in the playoffs (Qualifier, Knockout and Challenger). The final is scheduled for Monday, January 27, 2025. The Scorchers are the most successful team in the history of the competition, having won the title five times.
David Warner is set to be available for Sydney Thunder for the entire season after signing a three-year-deal with them. Warner will also lead his BBL team. Earlier, Marcus Stoinis was named the captain of the Stars, who are yet to get their hands on the title.
The Hobart Hurricanes are the only other team to not have won the BBL, finishing as the runners-up in 2013-14 and 2017-18. The focus will also be players like Jacob Bethell and Jake Fraser-McGurk, who are both a part of the Renegades.
