Bihar Election 2025 Live: Of the total 243 assembly constituencies in Bihar, 121 are scheduled to go to polls on Thursday, November 6 in the first phase of the 2025 state assembly elections in a crucial triangular contest between the Bharatiya Janata Party and Janata Dal (United)-led National Democratic Alliance, the Rashtriya Janata Dal-led Mahagathbandhan (or Grand Alliance) of the Indian National Congress, and Prashant Kishor’s Jan Suraj Party.
Voting will begin at 7 am and end at 6 pm and in some places at 5 pm.
Several prominent candidates fielded by both the ruling NDA and the opposition grand alliance are set to face voters in high-stakes contests across the state. These candidates include BJP leader and Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary contesting from Tarapur, Grand Alliance’s chief ministerial face and RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav contesting from Raghopur, Tejashwi’s brother Tej Pratap contesting from Mahua on the ticket of his own organization Janshakti Janata Dal, BJP’s Maithili Thakur contesting from Alinagar and JDU’s Anant Singh contesting from Mokama, who is currently in jail in the murder case of Jan Suraj supporter Dularchand Yadav.
Prashant Kishor’s Jan Suraj Party is also making its electoral debut with this assembly election, making it a triangular fight.

Around 3.75 crore voters will decide the fate of 1,314 candidates contesting in 121 constituencies across 18 districts of Bihar on Thursday. The eighteen districts where voting is taking place in the first phase include Patna, Darbhanga, Madhepura, Saharsa, Muzaffarpur, Gopalganj, Siwan, Saran, Vaishali, Samastipur, Begusarai, Lakhisarai, Munger, Sheikhpura, Nalanda, Buxar and Bhojpur.

3.75 crore voters are eligible to vote in 121 constituencies during the first phase of the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections. Voting will take place at 45,341 polling stations, of which 36,733 are in rural areas.
Of the 3.75 crore voters, 10.72 lakh were ‘new voters’.
