Champions League: Bayern defence wary of Arsenal’s set-pieces

Bayern Munich defenders Dayot Upamecano and Jonathan Tah urged their team to be wary of Arsenal’s prowess from set-pieces ahead of the upcoming UEFA Champions League clash on Wednesday.

Bayern have been in scintillating form this season, having won 16 of their 17 games across all competitions, but there was cause for concern in their recent 6-2 German League win over Freiburg, as they conceded both goals from corners — an area of the game Mikel Arteta’s squad excels in, having scored 11 of their 24 English Premier League (EPL) goals from set-pieces.

“We have to work on that [defending corners]. Arsenal are terrific in the EPL from corners,” said Upamecano. His centre-back partner Tah also agreed with the Frenchman’s assessment.

“We`ll have to be very, very vigilant at set pieces.” Nevertheless, Tah added: “Of course we`re going into the game full of confidence. We want to take three points home with us.”

Bayern Munich boast an impressive record against Arsenal, having won eight of their 14 encounters while losing just thrice.

In their previous meeting last season, Bayern Munich ousted the Gunners in the quarter-final stage of the  Champions League after securing a 3-2 win on aggregate.
