The much-anticipated box office clash between Vicky Kaushal’s Chhaava and Allu Arjun’s Pushpa 2: The Rule has been averted. The makers of Chhaava have chosen to shift the release date to avoid competing directly with Sukumar’s highly anticipated sequel. They were originally scheduled to release on December 6.
Chhaava will now hit the theatres on February 14, 2025. Interestingly, the release date holds special significance since it coincides with Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Jayanti on 19 Feb 2025.
Vicky Kaushal will play the role of Maratha warrior-king Chhatrapati Sambhaji in the upcoming film Chhaava. The teaser for the period drama has been released, showcasing Kaushal in the lead role. The movie will explore the life of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, the son of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, with Akshaye Khanna portraying Aurangzeb. Directed by Laxman Utekar, the film also stars Rashmika Mandanna, Ashutosh Rana, Divya Dutta, Neil Bhoopalam, and Santosh Juvekar in key roles. Produced by Dinesh Vijan’s Maddock Films, it promises an epic historical saga.
Meanwhile, Pushpa 2: The Rule is the highly anticipated sequel to Sukumar’s 2021 blockbuster Pushpa: The Rise. The film will see Allu Arjun, Rashmika Mandanna, and Fahadh Faasil return as Pushpa Raj, Srivalli, and Bhanwar Singh Shekawat. While the first part followed Pushpa’s rise from a daily wage laborer to a red sanders smuggler, the sequel will focus on his struggle to maintain his power. Originally scheduled for release on December 6, the film will now release a day earlier, on December 5. It will be available in multiple languages, including Telugu, Hindi, Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam, and Bengali.
