‘Aankhen’, a 1993 action-comedy film directed by David Dhawan, became a blockbuster hit featuring actors Govinda, Chunky Pandey, and Shakti Kapoor. The film is celebrated for its quirky plot and memorable characters. Recently, Chunky revealed that the monkeys used in the movie were treated like celebrities, staying in five-star hotels and earning higher pay than the actors.
While appearing on ‘The Great Indian Kapil Show’ on Netflix, Govinda, Chunky Pandey, and Shakti Kapoor recalled their time filming ‘Aankhen’. Shakti humorously remarked, “We did this film together where these two were the heroes. Actually, no, there were three heroes—Govinda, Chunky, and a monkey. Ask them.”
Chunky added humorously, “Yes, he was paid more handsomely than us.” Govinda agreed, quipping, “We didn’t get paid.”
Shakti recounted a hilarious story about the monkey staying at Mumbai’s Sun and Sand Hotel. He noted, “Whenever David would call for the monkey, Chunky would show up. Whenever he called for Chunky, the monkey would show up.”
Meanwhile, Chunky Pandey is currently filming ‘Housefull 5‘, which is directed by Tarun Mansukhani. The comedy features a star-studded cast that includes Akshay Kumar, Nargis Fakhri, Jacqueline Fernandez, Fardeen Khan, Sonam Bajwa, Abhishek Bachchan, Riteish Deshmukh, and Johnny Lever. The film is scheduled for release on June 6, 2025.
