Former diplomatic Harsh Sriingla, and Ujjwal Nikam, Advocate, who helped to prosecute 26/11 terrorist Ajmal Kasab, has been nominated in the Rajya Sabha.

In a major announcement, the President nominated former diplomat Harsh Sriingla, and eminent lawyer, Ujjwal Nikam, who helped attack 26/11, attacking 26/11.

In a gazette notification by the Ministry of Home Affairs on Saturday, four members were nominated in the upper house of Parliament, including people of various backgrounds including diplomacy, legal fraternity, historians and social workers.

Those who were nominated in the nominee’s MHA list included Harsh Shringla (skillful diplomat), Ujjwal Nikam (lawyer), Meenakshi Jain (eminent historian), and Sadanadan Master (Kerala Teacher).

MHA notification said individuals were being nominated to fill the vacancies required by retirement of enrolled members. The President of India can nominate 12 people in Rajya Sabha. They are famous individuals in areas such as art, literature and public service. Right now, four of those 12 seats are vacant.

“In the practice of powers provided by sub-section (A) of Article 80 of Article 80 of the Constitution of India, read with section (3) of that article, the President has pleased to nominate the state council. MHA notification said.

Nikam was a public prosecutor in the testing of Ajmal Aamir Kasab in the 26/11 case. He helped prosecute the Pakistani terrorist in the Sessions Court and the Bombay High Court and assisted senior advocate Gopal Subramaniam in the Supreme Court. Kasab, the only terrorist in 2008 Mumbai attacks, was sentenced to death by a session court in May 2010.

Nikam also got a ticket from BJP to contest 2024 Lok Sabha elections from Mumbai North Central Constituency. However, he suffered defeat at the hands of Congress candidate Varsha Gikwad.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi appreciated the nomination of Nikam to the Rajya Sabha and said that the lawyer has always worked to “strengthen constitutional values” in his career.

He has not only been a successful lawyer, but has also been at the forefront of seeking justice in important matters. Throughout his legal career, he has always worked to strengthen constitutional values and to ensure that they are. Innings,” PM Modi tweeted.

Shringla is former Foreign Secretary of India and East Embasador of the United States, Bangladesh and Thailand. He was also the Chief Coordinator during India’s G20 Presidency in 2023.

PM Modi contributed to India’s foreign policy and said that his perspectives will enrich parliamentary proceedings.

“Mr. Harsha Vardan Shringla ji has excelled as a diplomat, intellectual and strategic thinker. Over the years, he has contributed significantly to India’s foreign policy and has also contributed to our G20 presidential post.

Responding to the Prime Minister’s message and reacting to his nomination, Shringla said he would continue working for the country and put necessary efforts to strengthen the country on the world stage.

“I give my grateful thanks to the Honorable Prime Minister @narendramodi JI for my grateful thanks and deepest gratitude to the Honorable President, which is to hand over me with this holy duty. I always wanted to work in service to the country and even after retirement, I am working on the occasion. I am required to make my country strong on the international stage,” he tweeted.

The Prime Minister Meenakshi Jain was also praised, whose work is “academic discourse rich” in the field of education and history. He wished his tenure as an MP.

“It is a great pleasure that Dr. Meenakshi Jain has been nominated by Paramthi ji for the President. He has distinguished himself as a scholar, researcher and historian. His work in the fields of education, literature, history and political science has enriched academic discourse.

PM Modi congratulated the Sadanandan Master on his nomination and greeted for his tenure.

“Shri C. Sadanandan Master’s life is a symbol of courage and refuses to bow down to injustice. Violence and threats cannot stop his feeling towards national development. His efforts as a teacher and social worker are also commendable. He is very emotional for youth empowerment.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah congratulated the nominees and said that their knowledge and experience will enrich the national discourse in Parliament.
