'Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat' crosses Rs 50 crore mark in India

'Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat' box office day 9: The Harshvardhan Rane film slow down on touching Rs 50 crore at the box office, while 'Thamma' makes Rs 100 crore

Harshavardhan Rane’s ‘Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat’ has released in theatres last week on Diwali. It clashed with Ayushmann Khurrana, Rashmika Mandanna, Nawazuddin Siddiqui starrer ‘Thamma’ which was a big movie from Dinesh Vijan’s horror comedy universe. Even ‘Munjya’ which was a small film from this universe had done well at the box office. So, in that sense, expectations from ‘Thamma’ were high and it also had a much wider release, with three times more shows than ‘Ek Deewane…’. Yet, the Harshvardhan Rane film has managed to make a mark and proven to be a hit. Infact, it’s Rane’s highest grosser now, over ‘Sanam Teri Kasam’. The film has now crossed Rs 50 crore at the box office. The film opened to a healthy ₹9 crore on day one, matching the debut numbers of ‘Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari’. It maintained a steady trajectory through the week — ₹7.75 crore on day two, ₹6 crore on day three, ₹5.5 crore on day four, ₹6.25 crore on day five, and ₹7 crore on day six. As expected, Monday saw a dip to ₹3.5 crore, but Tuesday brought a pleasant surprise with a slight growth in numbers due to discounted ticket prices. On Tuesday, day 8, the movie made Rs 4.5 crore. On Wednesday which is day 9, the collection was Rs 2.75 crore. Thus, the total collection of the movie now stands at Rs 52.25 crore at the box office. Meanwhile, ‘Thamma’ has crossed Rs 100 crore in India. The Diwali period is now over, so collections will naturally drop. Still, the film has done really well so far, with its extended first week set to cross ₹55 crore nett. The key now will be how well it holds from Thursday to Friday, which will decide its total run. If it maintains steady numbers, it could easily cross ₹75 crore nett — a strong result.Since the movie is coming out of a long holiday week, it’s worth watching how the weekend performs, as post-holiday weekends often show slower growth. Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat is only the fifth Hindi HIT of the year, with just two months left. Hopefully, a few more hits will follow, taking the total to around 7–8 by year-end.Here are the nine-day collections of Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat:
