Elon Musk congratulates new world chess champion D Gukesh on historic win

NEW DELHI: Billionaire Elon Musk on Saturday extended his congratulations to India’s newly crowned world chess champion Gukesh Dommaraju following his historic triumph.
Gukesh on Thursday created history, becoming the youngest World Champion in chess after defeating China’s Ding Liren in the decisive final game of their FIDE World Championship clash.
Tied at 6.5-6.5 going into the final game, Gukesh secured victory in the final showdown to claim the coveted title.

Gukesh received the championship trophy on Friday in a ceremony marking his incredible ascent to the pinnacle of chess.
Reflecting on his victory, he described the achievement as the ‘best moment of his life’ during the post-match press conference.
Gukesh’s path to glory began in April when he won the Candidates Chess Tournament, becoming the youngest-ever challenger for Ding Liren’s title.
The championship showdown was a tense and dramatic affair, with Game 13 ending in a draw before the final round decided it all.
Gukesh’s calm demeanor and strategic brilliance sealed his place in history.
Ding Liren, the former champion, expressed his thoughts after the match, admitting, “I was totally in shock when I realized I made a blunder. I will continue to play. I think I played my best tournament of the year. It could be better, but considering yesterday’s lucky survival, it is a fair result to lose in the end. I have no regrets.”
