Exclusive | After Pandya Store, Shiny Doshi returns to TV with The 50

After a three-year break from television, Shiny Doshi is set to return to the small screen in a completely new avatar with the reality show The 50. In an exclusive chat with mid-day, the actor spoke candidly about her hiatus, her decision to step into unscripted territory, and what audiences can expect from the “real Shiny” this time around.

Shiny Doshi talks about her comeback

Shiny revealed that the break after Pandya Store was not entirely planned but intentional in terms of waiting for the right opportunity. “So honestly I’ll tell you I never thought about it. After Pandya, I’ve been waiting for almost two and a half years for the right show to kind of fall into my lap,” she shared. When The 50 came her way, it instantly felt right. “I just thought this is something which I can do and something where I can actually connect with the audiences and kind of show what real Shiny is.”

Having spent years doing fiction, Shiny felt it was time to break away from being known only through her characters. “I’ve always done fiction shows and people have always known me from my character. This time I thought, why not do Shiny? Why don’t people know Shiny? How is Shiny in real?” she said, adding that the concept of 50 contestants competing together intrigued her deeply. While the scale makes her nervous, she admitted, “I am a little nervous when it comes to competing with 49 other people. It’s a task and it’s not easy for sure. But yeah, I’m very excited.”

When asked about mental preparation, Shiny was refreshingly honest. “Are you really ever prepared for it? Not really,” she said, explaining that she believes in surrendering to the process. “I want to surrender to this journey and see what it unfolds for me. I honestly have zero clue. No one has seen this show in India, even I haven’t.”

Whether Shiny Doshi will have conflicts in the mahal

Addressing the possibility of conflicts, Shiny made it clear she values grace but won’t stay silent. “Don’t take me lightly. When it comes, I speak. I believe in grace and dignity, but I am not somebody who takes shit from people. I give it back in my ways,” she said, adding that audiences will see her humour, innocence, and friendly nature too.

Physically, she feels ready. “Since Pandya, I’ve gotten really serious with my workouts. I work out six days a week,” she shared, though she admitted the scale of The 50 still feels unpredictable.

Looking ahead, Shiny is open to more reality shows. “After such a long time, something has come my way which interests me so much. I’m just surrendered to the process,” she concluded, promising an organic, unplanned, and honest journey inside The 50.
