Actress Ridhi Dogra is currently winning hearts with her performance on The 50. As she continues to navigate the high intensity reality space, her brother, actor Akshay Dogra, has been one of her strongest supporters. In an exclusive chat, Akshay opened up about watching Ridhi on the show, how the reality landscape has evolved, and how he missed having her at the premiere of their film Vadh 2.
Akshay Dogra talks about sister Ridhi Dogra`s The 50 stint
Sharing his initial reaction, Akshay said, “So initially, I was watching and I was saying, of course, I support her. I was just talking to somebody and I was saying, even like the landscape of reality TV has changed so much because of the advent of the Instagrammers and YouTubers and content creators. So there’s a lot of loud noises happening. People know how to grab attention and how to get into, be the limelight and all of those things.”
He admitted that Ridhi stepping into the format after a long gap came with its own challenges. “And Ridhi is like in a headspace where she’s doing all of this amazing work. And she’s not done a reality show in the longest time. I think the last one she had done was Khatron Ke Khiladi. Yes, back in the day. And suddenly she’s and so I saw the first couple of episodes. After that, like we’ve been sort of busy with the film. So it’s been a bit difficult. But I saw it and I said, oh, she’s like a fish out of water right now.”
However, he believes she has found her footing. “But lately I’m seeing chunks and bits and I think she’s holding on her own value system that we move forward with. She’s not letting go of that, which is great. I’m so proud of her for doing that. And just I just hope she keeps going on ahead and does justice to whatever she’s doing over there. Especially in between like 49 others who are known for all types of kalesh.”
Akshay reflects on dynamics in the Mahal
Reflecting on the dynamics inside the house, he said, “I swear, the first two episodes I was seeing all the veterans, all the people who are there. I’m saying they’re all like quiet and nobody’s talking anything. They’re all just like, ok this is just drama, which is unnecessary at this point of time. So they’re steering away from what`s not needed. Like we also as human beings, we you know, when you hold on to certain value systems, you just say, hey, live and let live. Be kind, be have compassion, be more understanding. So all of those things are there. But it’s fun. I’m waiting to see more of her inside the house.”
Akshay also expressed disappointment that Ridhi could not attend the premiere of Vadh 2. “I’m a little disappointed that she’s inside. She would have been really, really happy to see the film. And unfortunately, she’s inside. And by the time she comes back out maybe the film won`t be screening in theatres, because it just released now and she’s got another couple of weeks. So I don’t know where the film is going to be. So I don’t know when she’s going to get to see it. But I was really looking forward to have her see the film.”
