In an exclusive conversation, Shilpa Shinde spoke at length about destiny, career choices, misunderstandings, and the journey that has shaped her both personally and professionally. Reflecting on her much talked about return and the phases in between, the actor admitted she was never fully certain about coming back. “I think destiny happened. I was not very much sure that I want to come back or I don’t want to come back,” she said, adding that writer Manoj Santoshi would often ask her, “Will you do it again?” To which she would reply, “Manoj ji, let’s do something else. I don’t want to take that U turn.”

Shilpa explained that she had always looked at the character as a phase rather than a lifelong identity. “You can’t do that all your life,” she said, noting that she was completely satisfied with whatever had happened. “People understood what exactly I am after Bigg Boss. I am very satisfied in my life,” she shared, adding that returning was never firmly in her mind, especially when films and other projects were already in the pipeline.
Calling her return a matter of destiny, Shilpa said, “Jiske liye aapne itna massive recognition paaya tha, wo kahin na kahin se due dene wapas aata hi hai.” She also reflected on the early days of her iconic show, pointing out that despite minimal publicity, “humne apne mein kuch achcha karte hai, wo humne kar diya.”
Addressing industry realities, Shilpa offered a strong message of perseverance. “Industry bahut choti bhi hai aur bahut badi bhi. Aaj aap nahi ho toh aapki jagah lene ke liye 50 log baithe hote hain,” she said. Having worked since 2000, she added, “Agar aap apne kaam ke saath honest hote ho na, toh aapko koi peeche nahi kar sakta.”

She also spoke about being misunderstood over the years. “Mujhe tantrums, kapdon ke demand ke liye badnaam kiya gaya,” she said, firmly dismissing the claims. “Main wo actress hoon jo tissue paper bhi soch samajh ke leti hoon, kyunki kisi ka paisa hota hai.” She credited senior actors like Shoma Anand and Zarina Wahab for teaching her professionalism and honesty.
On recent controversies and alleged misinterpretations of her statements for Shubhangi Atre, Shilpa was clear. “Main itna arrogantly kyu bolungi?” she asked, adding, “Meri competition sirf meri khud se hai.” Emphasising that there was never any bad blood, she said, “Original bhabhi ji main hi hoon, lekin mujhe kisi ko down dikhana nahi hai.”
Concluding on a balanced note, Shilpa said comparisons were unnecessary. “Har actor ka apna andaaz hota hai,” she stated, reinforcing her belief that honesty, individuality, and destiny continue to guide her journey.
