Ajinkya Birajdar netted a fine hat-trick as St Joseph’s Green (Juhu) routed Holy Cross ‘A’ (Juhu) 5-0 in a first-round match of the 45th Willingdon Catholic Gymkhana rink football tournament, played at the WCG’s tennis courts recently.
Kiran Chowgule and Aditya Gawa scored a goal each to complete the tally. In another match, Moses Alexander struck both goals as St Anthony’s ‘A’ (Vakola) beat St Joseph’s ‘C’ (Mira Road) by a narrow 2-1 margin.
Also, St Paul’s ‘B’ (Dadar) defeated Our Lady of Victories (Mahim) 3-1 thanks to a brace by Lance Fernandes. Ayush Shetty scored the third goal for St Paul’s while Keith Fernandes netted the consolation goal for the Mahim outfit.
