Gulshan Devaiah heads south with Tamil crime drama series Legacy

Earlier this year, Gulshan Devaiah took a gamble and ventured down South to expand his filmography. After marking a major hit with the Kannada film Kantara: The Legend — Chapter 1, he is now foraying into Tamil content with the crime drama series Legacy. Clearly, good work begets more work, and the actor is thrilled to explore further. “After about 14 years of working primarily in Hindi, I feel settled enough to spread my wings a bit and fly,” he says.

Directed by Charukesh Sekar and produced by Kalyan Shankar, the upcoming Netflix series delves into the world of power, morality, and revenge. The recently unveiled poster features Devaiah in a tough cop avatar. Ask him what drew him to the project, and the actor explains, “Legacy is a wonderful opportunity for me to find linguistic diversity in my career. I play a cop who is struggling with his sense of responsibility towards his work, family, and self. There’s a certain glory and complexity to playing a cop — the understanding of the burden and conflict that come with it. That challenge really drew me in.”

The series also brings together R Madhavan, Gautham Karthik, and Abhishek Banerjee. Considering it an honour to share screen space with such established names, he says, “Being around actors like Madhavan, Nimisha [Sajayan], Abhishek, Gautham Karthik, Vaiyapuri, and other well-established, experienced actors pushes you to stay alert and give your best.”
