Missing May ka mahina

Apoorva Lakhia

Salman Khan seems to be missing yet another date with the cinemas, and fans aren’t amused. His film ‘Maatrubhumi’, originally titled ‘Battle of Galwan’, was first slated for an April release. The war drama, based on the 2020 India-China clash, was later pushed to May after Salman and director Apoorva Lakhia reportedly reshot nearly 40 days of the film to avoid straining the already fragile diplomatic sensitivities between the two countries. Now, the latest buzz suggests even May is off the table. According to a Bollywood Hungama report, ‘Maatrubhumi’ is eyeing a June release as the revised cut continues to face clearance hurdles at the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). Third time’s the charm!

What`s added?
More romance, a fleshed-out backstory for the lead, and a Chinese song.

Knock, knock! Kaun hai?

Tabu with Asha Bhosle on her birthday

Taking a trip down memory lane, Tabu recalled one of the most cherished moments of her life — a surprise from the legendary Asha Bhosle. Sharing the memory on social media, she wrote, “Tell me of your most memorable days. Tell me what moves you the most. Tell me of your most prized possessions. It was my birthday in November and there it was, through my door, this beauty… this guitar — Ashaji’s gift to me (sic).” Feeling overwhelmed, she added, “Words could never hold the gratitude I feel. I love and admire you more than I can say, Ashaji. Through your songs we felt love and longing, pain, and passion. I will hold on to this [guitar] for life and someday soon, I hope I can play your songs to you
on this.”

Actors and technicians in the Bengali film and television industry began an indefinite strike on Tuesday, protesting the demise of actor Rahul Arunoday Banerjee, who died during a shoot at Odisha’s Talsari beach recently. The forum is demanding stricter safety measures on sets. The industry has come together in solidarity with the bereaved family. Actor Prosenjit Chatterjee is expected to join the strike.

Taking her sweet time

Manisha Koirala and Arbaaz Khan

Manisha Koirala is clearly in no rush, and she’s choosing wisely. After her OTT debut with Heeramandi (2024), the actor has finally locked her next project, Raazdar, with Arbaaz Khan. According to a Box Office Worldwide report, despite being flooded with offers post-Heeramandi, Manisha remained keen on author-backed roles and collaborations with like-minded creators. A film with a younger actor was in the cards but eventually got shelved. Raazdar, which reportedly went on floors earlier this year, will see Arbaaz pulling double duty as both actor and producer.
