Suniel Shetty in ‘Border’
mid-day had recently reported that actors Akshaye Khanna, Suniel Shetty, and Sudesh Berry are set to make cameo appearances in Border 2 (Main waapas aaunga, December 22). The trio’s characters had died in Border (1997), but a special sequence has been planned for the sequel. While Akshaye and Sudesh had already shot their portions, Suniel was initially unable to film his scenes. A source close to the development told mid-day, “The actor was finally able to shoot the scenes on Tuesday (December 23).” The source added that the makers had earlier planned to recreate Shetty’s role using VFX, but said the team was “thrilled” when he could appear in person. The war drama is set to arrive in cinemas on January 23.

Dhurandhar 2 is set to clash at the box office Yash’s Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups when it releases on March 19, 2026. The release date was officially announced in the end credit roll on the day Dhurandhar hit theatres. However, the makers, on December 24, confirmed that the sequel will arrive during Eid, Gudi Padwa, and Ugadi, and release simultaneously in Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, and Malayalam, marking a five-language pan-India rollout. Directed by Aditya Dhar, the film is being positioned as one of the biggest theatrical events of 2026, driven by strong demand from the audience in South Indian states.

Actor Yami Gautam Dhar has candidly opened up about her marriage with filmmaker Aditya Dhar, revealing why there was no formal proposal before their wedding. In an interview with Humans of Bombay, she said, “There was no ‘I am going to propose you’ kind of moment or anything filmy. We just knew that we really want to get married. We wanted to make it more about rituals than anything else.” The couple tied the knot in 2021 and welcomed their son, Vedavid, in 2024.

Filmmaker Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s Animal (2023) is set to return to theatres, two years after its original release, with a limited run in Japan. The makers announced that the Ranbir Kapoor-starrer will release widely across Japanese cinemas on February 13, 2026. Sharing a poster, producers Bhadrakali Films wrote, “The most talked-about, debated, and unforgettable cinematic experience is coming to Japan.” Released in December 2023, Animal was a major box office success despite criticism over its violent and controversial themes.

Mirzapur: The Film, which brings back the most loved characters from the hit crime series, is currently being shot in Rajasthan. Actor Ali Fazal, who plays Guddu bhaiya, took to social media to share a behind-the-scene video and informed, “Mirzapur: The Film. Shooting now. Rajasthan schedule. Thank you Jaisalmer and Jodhpur for the immense love and hospitality that knows no bounds. Aapne humein apna samjha. To all the hotels that made us feel at home while we were toiling away from our own homes. Khammaghani.” The film went on floors earlier this month.
