HDFC Bank customers take note! Downtime of over 13 hours scheduled next week; ATM, net banking, UPI services to be impacted – check list

HDFC Bank customers take note of upcoming downtime for important services! HDFC Bank has notified its customers via email about a forthcoming system upgrade aimed at enhancing their banking experience. The upgrade is expected to improve performance speed, increase the capacity to handle high traffic, and boost overall reliability.
However, the scheduled downtime means that several important services of HDFC Bank will be hit.The downtime is set for Saturday, 13th July 2024. It will commence at 3:00 AM and is expected to be completed by 4:30 PM on the same day.
In the email, HDFC Bank stated, “We have scheduled this upgrade on a second Saturday, a bank holiday, to minimize inconvenience. Yet, we advise you to plan your banking activities in advance and appreciate your cooperation as we enhance our systems to serve you better.” The bank has chosen this specific date to ensure minimal disruption to its customers’ banking activities.

HDFC Bank Downtime: What Services Will Be Impacted?

HDFC Bank has announced that certain services will be temporarily unavailable for its account holders during specific time intervals, according to an ET report.

Some service disruptions will occur from 3:00 AM to 3:45 AM and then again from 9:30 AM to 12:45 PM. During these periods, customers will not be able to access the following UPI services:
· Send and receive money
· Merchant payment (QR or online)
· Balance enquiry
· Set or change pin
To minimize any inconvenience caused by these service interruptions, HDFC Bank has provided some helpful tips for its customers. They advise account holders to withdraw sufficient funds in advance, before 7:30 PM on Friday, 12th July 2024. Additionally, customers are encouraged to plan all their fund transfers ahead of time to avoid any difficulties during the service downtime.

HDFC Bank Downtime: Available Services

HDFC Bank customers can withdraw cash from any ATM using their HDFC Bank debit card (subject to a restricted limit) or credit card. They can also make purchases at stores using their debit card (with a restricted limit) or credit card on swipe machines.
Online shopping remains uninterrupted, as customers can use their HDFC Bank debit card (up to a restricted limit) and credit card, including through PayZapp, for seamless transactions. UPI services will be available, except for short periods on Saturday, 13th July 2024, from 3:00 AM to 3:45 AM and 9:30 AM to 12:45 PM.

Cash Withdrawal: Debit and Credit Cards You can continue to withdraw cash from any ATM using your HDFC Bank debit card (up to a restricted limit*) or credit card.
Shop & Pay: Debit Cards, Credit Cards and UPI At stores: You can continue to use your HDFC Bank debit card (up to a restricted limit*) or credit card on swipe machines.

Online: You can make seamless online purchases with your HDFC Bank debit card (up to a restricted limit*) & credit card, including through PayZapp.

UPI: You can continue to use the service. However, it will be unavailable from 3:00 AM to 3:45 AM and from 9:30 AM to 12:45 PM on Saturday, 13th July 2024

*Please Note: The restricted limit for Debit cards will be a combined limit for ATM Cash withdrawals, in-store transactions, Online transactions, and contactless transactions

Card Management You can continue to hotlist your card, reset your PIN and perform other card-related activities.
Merchant Payments Merchants can continue to receive payments via cards, but updates to the account will be available after the upgrade completion.

It is important to note that the restricted limit for debit cards is a combined limit for ATM cash withdrawals, in-store transactions, online transactions, and contactless transactions. Customers can also manage their cards, including hotlisting, resetting PINs, and other related activities.
Merchants can continue to receive payments via cards, although account updates will be available only after the upgrade is complete. HDFC Bank account holders can use various UPI services, such as sending and receiving money, making merchant payments (QR or online), checking balances, and setting or changing PINs, from 3:45 AM to 9:30 AM and 12:45 PM onwards.
