“Stuart didn’t appreciate my gesture after he was hit for six sixes by Yuvraj Singh,” Chris Broad told Telegraph.co.uk.“I got Yuvraj to sign an Indian shirt and gave it to him for Christmas. Apparently, he opened the present, saw it, and threw it in the bin.“I think he had a bit of a sense-of-humour failure after that.”Chris Broad also shared how Stuart once tried to threaten legal action when he was fined for swearing — by his own father.“We played him the recording,” said Chris. “He was hook, line and sinker — no question. But Stuart was like, ‘No, no, no, I’m gonna get my lawyers involved. This is ridiculous.’ I said, ‘Come on, stop it. Just sign the slip, it’s just 15 per cent of your match fee.’

What do you think about Stuart Broad’s reaction to his Christmas gift?
“‘No, no, I’m not gonna do it. No, no.’ He felt that because it was me, I could change it — because I was his father, not his referee. But no.“Eventually he accepted it, but bless him, he still goes on about it. He’ll get over it… eventually.”
