India captain Shubman Gill’s clearly thought-out strategy and body language in the second Test against England are traits of a world-class player with a bright future, says former cricketer Jonathan Trott.
The former England batter and incumbent Afghanistan coach heaped praise on the Indian skipper, who held the innings together on a surface wherein England threatened to cause more damage than they did. “What stood out was his body language. His intent was clear: ‘I’ll be there, I’ll be not out, and I’ll make sure we get into a winning position’. [It was] very impressive from such a young man — a world-class player with a bright future,” Trott told JioHotstar.
