In fifth Test match against England, Team India pacer Prasidh Krishna was seen exchanging a few words with stalwart Joe Root — the batsman clearly not being happy about it.
Speaking about the incident, Krishna said it was just a competitive edge and both of them are good friends off the field.
“Well, it was a very small thing. I think it was just a competitive edge amongst us that was coming out. Both of us are good mates off the field. It was just a little bit of a banter and both of us enjoyed it,” the Team India bowler said in the post-match presentation.
Further, the pacer said that it was also part of the plan, but he didn`t expect such a reaction from Root.
“That was also the plan. But I didn`t really expect a couple of words that I said to get such a big reaction from him. But like I said, I love the guy that he is. He`s a legend of the game,” he added.
Bowling 16 overs in England`s first innings, Prasidh Krishna claimed four wickets by conceding 62 runs. Along with him, Mohammed Siraj, too, bagged four wickets after leaking 86 runs in 16.2 overs.
“And for him to come out there, it`s great when two people are out there wanting to do their best,” said Krishna.
On Day 3 of the fifth Test match, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Akash Deep are batting strongly in the middle. Earlier, India lost the early wickets of KL Rahul and Sai Sudharsan.
Facing 28 balls, Rahul scored seven runs, including a boundary. On the other hand, Sudharsan departed after scoring 11 runs off 29 balls, with the help of a boundary.
Earlier, in England`s first innings, Crawley (64 in 57 balls, with 14 fours) and Ben Duckett (43 in 38 balls, with five fours and two sixes) put on a 92-run stand. After both openers were dismissed at the score of 129 runs, there was a batting collapse triggered by Krishna (4/62) and Siraj (4/83). Harry Brook (53 in 64 balls, with five fours and a six) did score a half-century, but could not prevent England from getting dismissed for just 247 runs, giving England a slender 23-run lead.
