IND vs SA 2nd ODI: Irfan Pathan reveals reason behind Team India`s loss

In the second ODI match against Team India, South Africa emerged victorious by four wickets at the Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Cricket Stadium in New Raipur.

Following the loss, former Team India all-rounder Irfan Pathan shared a post on his official social media handle. “Last few overs while batting cost India the game,” read his post.

South Africa`s Corbin Bosch and Keshav Maharaj stayed unbeaten on the scores of 29 and 10 runs. Facing 15 balls, Bosch smashed four maximums, whereas Maharaj faced 14 balls and didn`t smash any boundaries or maximums.

Having put to chase the target of 359 runs against Team India, South Africa`s opening batsman Aiden Markram delivered a glorious knock. Facing 98 balls, the right-hander smashed 110 runs, with the help of 10 boundaries and four maximums.

Skipper Temba Bavuma scored 46 runs after facing 48 balls. His knock was laced with three boundaries and a maximum. Matthew Breetzke accumulated 68 runs off 64 deliveries, which saw him smash five boundaries.

Dewald Brevis also accumulated 54 runs in 34 balls. The stylish right-hander smashed a boundary and five maximums. Marco Jansen returned to the pavilion on just two runs in two balls.

Team India`s Arshdeep Singh and Prasidh Krishna claimed two wickets each. Harshit Rana and Kuldeep Yadav, too, picked up one wicket each.

Earlier, Virat Kohli and Ruturaj Gaikwad stitched a crucial partnership for the “Men in Blue”. Showcasing exceptional strokes and immense grit, Gaikwad played a glorious knock of 105 off 83 deliveries. His knock also included 12 boundaries and two maximums. On the other hand, having faced 93 balls, Kohli played a blistering knock of 102 runs, which was laced with seven boundaries and two maximums. This was Kohli`s 53rd ton in the ODIs, which is the most by any player in the format`s history.

Later, riding on KL Rahul and Ravindra Jadeja`s knocks, India reached the score of 358 runs. Rahul smashed 66 runs in 43 balls, including six boundaries and two maximums, whereas Jadeja scored 24 runs off 27 balls, with the help of two boundaries.
