Jemimah Rodrigues was at her very best when India and the West Indies locked horns in the opening T20I of the three-match series at the Dr DY Patil Sports Academy, Navi Mumbai. On Sunday, December 15, the right-handed batter racked up her fastest T20I fifty in her career off 28 balls as India recorded their highest score against the West Indies in Women’s T20Is.

After being asked to bat first, India scored 195 for four, going past their 185 for four in November 2019 in Gros Islet. India also recorded their third-highest T20I team score. 201 for five against the UAE in the Asia Cup earlier this year remains their top score. Back in 2018, they also made 198 for four against England at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai.
Jemimah Rodrigues plays a blinder
Jemimah did not put a foot wrong after batting at No.3. She scored 73 runs off 35 balls, striking at 208.57 with the help of nine fours and two sixes. After Uma Chetry and Smriti Mandhana laid the platform with a partnership of 50 runs for the opening wicket off 6.3 overs, Jemimah came to the party.
She joined hands with Mandhana and the duo put on 81 runs for the second wicket off 44 balls. Jemimah got out in the last over of the Indian innings after being run out at the striker’s end, but by then she had already taken India to a massive score.
In 105 T20Is thus far, Jemimah has scored 2215 runs at an average of 30.34. She got her top score of 75 not out against the UAE in the Asia Cup 2022. Since making her debut as a teenager, Jemimah has taken rapid strides in her career. She has also played three Tests and 36 ODIs for India.
