BRISBANE: The Indian cricket team has decided to release travelling reserves Yash Dayal, Mukesh Kumar and Navdeep Saini, and the trio are likely to feature in the Vijay Hazare Trophy starting from December 21.
The three seamers have been with India squad right from the start of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy but the team management felt it would be ideal for them to get some game time under their belt now that only two Tests are left after the Brisbane fixture. India next play in Melbourne and Sydney before returning home after a long summer Down Under.
While Saini and Mukesh were originally named as reserves by the Ajit Agarkar-led men’s senior selection committee, Dayal was flown in as a replacement for Khaleel Ahmed, part of the original trio, who wasn’t 100% during the team’s nets in Perth.

For Mukesh, it has been a very long trip as he travelled with the India A squad for the two fixtures which preceded the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. It is understood that he is set to feature in the Vijay Hazare Trophy for Bengal which starts in a week’s time.
As far as Saini is concerned, he only played one India A fixture and has been on net duties since then. The seamer was in Brisbane on the opening day where he saw the little action from the stands but is now all set to take the flight home.
It is further understood that Yash Dayal has already reached home and will be gearing up for the white-ball tournament for his state Uttar Pradesh.
